I’m not a huge Academy Award watcher, but I did tune in Sunday night while I was chit-chatting on social media. I have to say I was delighted with Christopher Plummer winning best supporting actor for his portrayal of a gay widower with terminal cancer.
He has always been one of my favorites since he graced the screen as the dashing yet stern Captain Von Trapp, in my favorite movie, The Sound of Music.
Amazingly, this was Plummer’s first Oscar at age 82 – the oldest acting winner ever. Plummer noted in his acceptance speech that the award itself is just two years older than him, joking, “Where have you been all my life?” The first Academy Award was given in 1928.
